My apologies for the inconvenience.Andy Roddick is playing Feliciano Lopez in the third round of the 2010 Australian Open. Lopez has a big game -- he has a powerful serve and forehand -- but I expect Roddick to win the match.Over the last year Andy has transformed his game. His backhand -- both topspin and slice -- has improved. He dropped 15 pounds, which has helped his movement. The combination of these two factors has facilitate more offensive opportunities for Roddick.Roddick's serve also isn't quite as fast as it has been in the past. In his first round match at the Australian Open his average first serve speed was only 112 mph. In the second round it was 121 mph. This is about 5 to 10 mph slower than his average first serve speed in the semis and final at Wimbledon last year.What I'm going to look for is if this drop in mph corresponds with more aggressive placement. Perhaps Andy has decided that a premium on placement -- and not pace -- will propel him to the Australian Open crown.
