For everyone out there who thinks that the only reason Serena Williams has won 12 grandslam singles titles, 12 grandslam doubles titles, 2 Olympic gold medals, a career grandslam (all four majors), and after a 15 year career of these various acheivements is still ranked number one in the world in both singles and doubles, is purely because of her "power", think again! While nobody denies that Serena is among the most powerful and athletic women ever to play her sport, these attributes alone do not bring success in a technical sport such as tennis. There are many other powerful athletes on the tennis tour who haven't even come close to matching Serena's accomplishments. Davenport, Kuznetsova, Safina, and Sharapova have all arugably matched the power of Williams. Capriati, Clijsters and Henin can all match the athleticism of Williams. Venus can match Serena in both of these categories. But none of them have been able to consistanly achieve as Serena has. The main reason is the mental edge she has over them. This video demonstrates the variety of shots that Serena can employ which often goes overlooked when people just assume that she just hits the ball as hard as she can each stroke. It also shows the strategy that she uses against certian players in different situation. Serena rarely ever gets credit for her technical abilities or her ability to out think her opponents. She scores and A in both categories!
