In sports, it's all Spain as the Tour de France crowned a new winner. But, first, Rafael Nadal edged closer to the men's number one ranking with a win at the Toronto Masters on Sunday. The Spaniard cruised past Nicolas Kiefer 6-3 6-2 in dominating fashion to capture his seventh title on the season and fifth in a row since mid-May. Kiefer was outplayed from start to finish with Nadal never dropping a service game.Nadal arrived in Toronto 770 points behind Federer, but trimmed the lead to 300 with his victory and now heads to the Masters Series in Cincinnati with Federer's number one ranking in sight. [Rafael Nadal, Champion]: "My next goal is try to play a good tournament in Cincinnati without thinking on number one, you know. If ever I am the number one it's going to be important news for me but when I am still number two I am just focused on try to continue and play my best tennis." Federer was beaten by unseeded Frenchman Gilles Simon in his opening match last Wednesday. @@@@@@@ And, in cycling, Carlos Sastre's risky attack through the mountains paid off, becoming the third successive Spaniard to win the Tour de France. The 33-year-old Sastre made his move last Wednesday during the final Alpine stage securing the yellow jersey and then never looked back to victory. [Spanish Fan]: "Right now Spain has won the Tour de France. With Nadal we won at Roland Garros and we have also won the Euro. It's our year in Spain!" Sastre's experience on major cycle tours finally paid off. After 17 unsuccessful attempts he's finally snared the big one, erupting fireworks and dancing in the streets back home. [Petri Candil, Sastre's Aunt]: "We've cried, we've laughed, we've jumped - it's been so big, such an enormous emotion for us his family, for his friends and all his hometown who loves him. I can't help getting the chills when I think of it. It's really a once in a lifetime emotion." Oscar Freire became the first Spaniard to take the green jersey for the best sprinter, while Australian Cadel Evans finished second overall, 58 seconds back.
